Two Thousand Twelve

1. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Attended a temple dedication (broadcast).  It was truly an awesome experience.  I never want to forget the spirit that was there.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions?

I still haven't had a glass of Pepsi.  Maybe a sip of a coke, but ew. Wasn't worth more than that.   I counted calories for 6 months and exercised regularly.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth or get married?

No weddings this year, but babies! my cousin  Kassie had a baby girl, cousin Toni a baby girl , cousin Jami a baby girl and my sister Meghan a baby girl and named her Demiee.  Yay for pink!
  4. Did anyone close to you die?

Jason's Grandpa Thompson passed away on November 14th.  After I told the kids Ella went around singing, "Grappa gets to see Jesus, and not me. Grappa is happy and I don't get to see him anymore. I love Jesus. Jesus loves me and grappa and grappa"

 5. What dates from the year will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Thursday August 30th.   I sent my baby off to Kindergarten.   No tears.  It was a happy day!  He is so big, and we are so proud of him!

6. Did you suffer illness or injury?
All within the same few days in July I got hives something terrible and Jason got violently ill,  bad enough that when he started vomiting blood I made him go to the ER.  While camping.  Ended up being "just" violent vomiting.  The hives?  No idea.  But I went to a ReNew You health center and got some all natural drops, and that was the only thing that helped.   Wish I would've gone there instead of to the doc to get the prednisone.... 6 weeks of hives is NOT fun.

7. What was the best thing you bought?
A new dining room table!!

8. What did you get really excited about?
Ella graduated from her crib, got rid of the binky and potty trained all within a month (January).  I'd have to mark that as exciting.  She was only 2.   She then started going with Bracken to play with his friends then graduated to her own friends.   What happened to the baby?!

9. What song will always remind you of 2012?
"We Are Young" by Fun and "Someone I Used To Know" by Walk Off The Earth. I think I way over played them, but they make me happy, and my kids like em!

10. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve at my parents house, played games and Santa came.  Then Christmas morning at home with Granny, Papa, Cheyne, Jake, Nick and Amber joining us.  That afternoon we went to Thompson's and stayed the night with plans to go to see Grandma's in Utah Valley but because of weather didn't go until the weekend.  Jason bought me a new bedspread, iPad case and blue-tooth speaker.  He got a Homedics Shiatsu Massage chair cushion, a deck of cards and a flashlight.  Santa brought Ella a blow dryer, curling iron, straight iron set, Bracken a Mario Cart remote control and a Wii for all of us!

11. Where were you in your religion?
After serving 3 1/2 years in the Primary Presidency we were released (as a presidency) and I was immediately called as a Beehive adviser.  Jason is still the Elder's quorum 1st councilor. Bracken was a CTR 4 with Sister Morgan and Sister Parent. Ella Cinderella (they call her) loved nursery with the Gentry's and Scott's.  I can't believe she's a Sunbeam!

12. What was your favorite TV program(s)?
Vampire Diaries, Friday Night Lights, Prison Break, Gossip Girl, Once Upon a Time and Parenthood

13. What were your favorite books of the year?
  • "Heaven is Here" by Stephanie Nielson
  • "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand
  • "The Scent of Rain and Lightning" by Nancy Pickard

14. What were your favorite movies of the year?
  • This Means War

15. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 31. It wasn't 'on' my birthday but a close weekend Jason took me to Lagoon and to to Cafe Zupas for lunch. FUN!  Oh! and I got a new flat iron for my hair.

16. What did you do on your anniversary, how many years?
9 years.  Jason had class that night but brought me home Wings from Wingers, Jamba Juice and chocolates.  We watched  episodes of Once Upon a Time and picnicked on the floor :)

17. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned:
If you say no you won't grow. But still say no to bad stuff! ;)
