sweet as sugar

Little Miss is 4 months old already... can you believe it? Bracken was quite impressed that she didn't even cry when the Dr looked in her ears. I didn't realize his amazement until today when he was talking to her and being so proud, 'no crying when Dr in your ears! Good Ella!'

She weighed in at 14lbs 3oz {56th percentile} and measured 25 inches long {72nd percentile}.

Ella isn't a napper.  I will keep trying though, I just wish both kids could sleep at the same time, when it does happen I don't quite know what to do with myself!

She quite enjoys her tummy time and being able to look up and be so big, and when she has had enough, she rolls over. She is on the verge of rolling from her back to her tummy as well... if for no other reason to get closer to where Bracken is! He is going to be in for a surprise when she can put all his stuff in her mouth. He panics when she puts her stuff in there!

I love that she loves her car seat. But I recently realized it might not be the car seat she loves. She is always so good back there, alas when Bracken was with Granny and she had to ride back there alone she was not so happy!

When it comes to Ella loving Bracken I think we have a minor case of hero worship on our hands!

Laughing Everyday

A few weeks back we went to eat at a newer place in town called Smokin Blues BBQ. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait almost a half hour before we got seated. While we were waiting to be seated a guy came out with his guitar and sang happy birthday to a little guy turning eight and then sang a a few blue grass songs. One of the songs he played he also played the harmonica while playing the guitar. Needless to say I think he made an impression on Bracken.

For the next few days Bracken carried around his 'guitar' and sang happy birthday with his eyes closed and chin up {just like the other guy did} and when he tried to hold the harmonica in his mouth and play his guitar at the same time he got very frustrated.

Well today Bracken came out with his 'guitar' asking for a stick. I asked why and he showed me how he was going to play his guitar...

Yesterday in church there was a wonderful musical number including.... you guessed it! A violin!

So this time I remembered to take pictures. I know, I know I should have made him get dressed, but then the moment would have passed, and this way we can remember how Bracken would insist on wearing his underwear backwards so he could see the pictures that should be on him bum!

Greetings from the funny farm

This silly little man got his way today and ate snacks in the 'baby chair.' He is quite the happy kid in his own weird little way! {at least when he is getting his way!}

He could do this over and over again he loves to have himself recorded and then watch it...

Some funny conversations we've had recently...

He wanted me to build a snowman with him. I kept telling him the snow was melted... so he ran and checked the window...'oh' he says, 'snow melted' He had just been out there an hour before hand playing on his bike.. you'd think he would know there was no snow.

Later that day he wanted me to go out and play; I told him I needed to stay in with Ella so she didn't fall off the couch. {sounded like a good excuse to me} He took that rather well I thought... Then I hear him talking to her. "mom put you on floor... you be good boy... mom play with bracken"

Some of his favorite pastimes are: The computer; he loves his YouTube Playlist, washing dishes together, the 'WORD" game as he calls it {he reads the letters on the flash cards and then has me read them back to him- and then we get marshmallows for a good job}, playing outside, hungry hippos, Don't Eat Pete -oh! and lets not forget vacuuming!

I recently realized he could sing his ABC's as I listened to him play cars and sing them over and over...

Okay well he does a much better job when he doesn't think anyone's listening.. oh well.
This last video was brought to you by bribing with chocolate.

milestone

At first she isn't so sure, but then watch out.. she attacks that spoon with vim n vigor!

Although it is a little hard when she is paying more attention to daddy than me with the food.

Bracken was a bit jealous, he cried cause he didn't get a turn in the high chair, and when he tasted the rice cereal, well lets just say we've never seen him gag like that before!

{she always does this with her hands. It's the sweetest thing, she loves to clasp them together.}

Happy 4 months today baby girl!

Losing Myself

I need another good book. That's not very well put because what I'm trying to read IS a good book, just not catching my interest so I can get lost in it. I NEED to get lost. I need a beach somewhere...

I am posting even though I have a lot of better things to be doing but simply don't want to do them. Bracken {who is on my last nerve today} is lost in SpongeBob downstairs, Ella is asleep and so instead of being mad cause I want a new book I played with Photoshop.

She's cute huh? I think so. She is starting to cry...

I am trying to remind myself that Bracken is a good boy... smart.happy.cute. pottytrained. but at the moment he is crying cause he just realized Grandma's banana bread is gone. Hopefully he is over that soon.

Yesterday he wanted me to 'wash something' took me 10 minutes to figure out he wanted to do the dishes...

He wanted to paint the other day and was mad cause I only had 2 colors to pick from.  The food coloring is running out.  I cannot find liquid food coloring. Crazy no?  Not a Wal Mart or Macey's.

He gets so upset over things and starts throwing a tantrum and screaming and crying, some days I handle it just fine others I panic. {like today- I didn't handle the screaming and crying very well.}

When he started chucking his toys at the walls I started taking them away.  But that obviously isn't working.  He went in and threw a fit today came out with a dinosaur and said, 'I threw it'  so I took it away and he threw a HUGE fit.  Why did he bring it to me?  Within 10 minutes he had thrown another tantrum and brought me another dino.  Another huge fit followed when I put it in the box with the others.  Again, why?  What am I missing?!

Anyway.  He is a good boy. Most of the time.

Now to get my apple dipping boy to leave his sister alone for 10 minutes {preferably consecutively.}
