17 weeks and wiggling…

I have to say being preggo with friends is so fun! My Cousins Kassie, Stacie, Mandy and now Cami are all preggo right now as well as my friend Katie and my sister-in-law Tausha… it is fun to have someone to “compare notes” with wherever I go!

Katie posted her 14 week belly (ha ha, it wasn't really even there!) so that I would post one of mine... and so here is a pic of my 17 week (4 months & 1 week) belly...

and wiggling! Yes I did say wiggling... last night Jason & I sat down and watched a movie and while watching it was an unmistakable feeling in my tummy... I thought no probably not but then it happened again, very exciting! I can't wait to feel it again!

17 Weeks

Our baby weighs about 5 ounces now and is around 5 inches long, about the size of a large onion. The umbilical cord, the lifeline to the placenta, is growing stronger and thicker. Our baby can move its joints, and its skeleton until now, rubbery cartilage is starting to harden into bone. Although, some of it will remain cartilage for years after baby is born.

Our Christmas Present....

For Christmas Mom & Dad Thompson bought us a digital camera, so we have a new toy and I have a way to post pictures! (although with just the 2 of us there aren't many pictures to take!) BUT! over the break Meghan came and stayed with us and Jason took us ice skating, and we played with it a bit...

Wahoo for visitors!

Kassie & Jon came up on Sunday and had dinner with us, then we went to Tanner's house and hung out with Tanner, Jon, Afton & Eric, Evelyn & Jake, Angela & her daughter Chevelle, and Paul & his fiancee Katie

The countdown…

12 more weeks of really long days for Jason, then he will be done with School!

3 ½ weeks until the “big” ultra sound when we find out if baby is a boy or a girl…

And we won’t start the countdown for the arrival of baby just yet… it still seems a little far off for me to start counting!

I have been feeling a great deal better (of course I still have my bad days) but for the most part things are looking up… as long as I have food within reach! Jason’s long days have started… we knew they were imminent but didn’t realize how much easier it was to plan and talk of them than to actually accomplish. He is usually out of the house by 7:20am (I’m still in bed, but sometimes I’m conscious!) he spends the day at Logan High and from there goes straight to Cache Central where he works till 8pm… so usually about 8:15ish I see him again, I try and have dinner ready (if I was able to wait that long!) and then by 10pm we’ve crashed and it all starts over again… I sure do miss him! I am a spoiled one, I am used to eating lunch with him most days, and that isn’t going to work out this time around…. But we’ll make it!

Keeping you updated...

Okay, okay so I am not very good at keeping everyone updated. I had the notion that this blog would be a great way to keep you all informed, well it is… If I keep it up to date!! I barely remember to put the weekly update on let alone post anything about us! I think I have a fear of over sharing, I should get over it, but I am having a hard time deciding what I want to say and what I don’t, I tried starting this out as “our” family blog, but you see I am the one who does it, so you only hear from me so it is really MY blog about OUR family… so welcome!

I think I am finally over the being sick all of the time part of the pregnancy, WAHOO! I usually only feel sick first thing in the morning, but once I eat I feel just fine. I do crave mandarin oranges, oh they are so good! And, I can make dinner and it doesn’t make me sick, this was an thrilling thing for me!

I have been trying to keep up my weekly jaunts to Curves, although some days I just don’t feel up to it, I have gone 2 times this week though! (My goal is 3 times) My good buddy Kara helps keep me going…

Jason started his last semester this week, had orientation for Student Teaching and got the splendid tour of Logan High, he will be teaching 1st and 4th period 3rd year Spanish and 5th period US Government, then working the evenings until 8pm at Cache Central. He is going to be one busy guy, I am very appreciative for him and the whole lot he does!
Work for me has been pretty uneventful; I come in file, send out the bills, make post office runs, and make deposits at the bank and at least once a week screw something up pretty bad. I have to say I am glad it is Friday!!! Speaking of I think I am going to end my week here and hope you all made it through yours as well!

16 Weeks

How our baby's growing:

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, our baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, baby will go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling its weight and adding inches to its length. Baby’s lower limbs are much more developed now. The head is more erect than it has been, and the eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Our baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of the more advanced body systems are working, including the circulatory system and urinary tract. The patterning of the scalp has begun, though the hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, the eyes are moving (slowly), and baby has even started growing toenails.

14 Weeks

Head to bottom, our baby's 3 1/2 inches long — about the length of a lemon — and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. Baby’s body is growing faster than the head, which now sits upon a more well-defined neck. By the end of this week, the arms will have lengthened and will be in proportion to the rest of the body. (The legs still have some growing to do, though.) Baby's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair all over its body (called lanugo). The liver starts secreting bile this week, a sign that it's already functioning properly, and the spleen starts contributing to the production of red blood cells. Baby is also producing and discharging urine into the amniotic fluid, a normal process that will keep up until birth. Mom still can't feel baby's movements, but baby’s hands and feet (which are now half an inch long) are more flexible and active. Thanks to brain impulses, baby’s little facial muscles are getting a workout as it squints, frowns, and grimaces. Baby can grasp now, too, and may be able to suck its thumb.
